A cordless drill is a necessary equipment that every homeowner should not lack in their toolbox. It is an essential handheld power tool that you should have at home to carry your day-to-day activities like repairing and other DIY tasks. In today’s market, however, there is a broad selection of cordless drills available out there, providing a wide variety of features and capabilities at significantly varied priced. The question is; Which one is perfect for your toolkit?
Continue readingPorter Cable power tools are not exactly a priority on my list, but I do love to review them. Part of the reason is associated with the affordability factor. They make cheap products for beginner to intermediate level users. Period.Today, I am reviewing Porter Cable PCE345 Jigsaw. It was released back in 2014, but since then, the Porter Cable jigsaw has gone through many renditions. Porter Cable made it a more stable product, with a range of options that were earlier introduced at the time of the first release.
Continue readingIn what seems to be a flawless execution of incorporating the latest technology into a handheld cutting tool, Bosch has definitely outdone the competition. Of course, this is only my opinion where you can beg to differ as much as you like. But I think that the Bosch JS470E 120 Volt Jigsaw is more of a fully fledged product with little to no flaws. The review attempts to summarize the said model of Bosch jigsaw in the best way possible.
Continue readingAs a woodworker and a part time power tool reviewer, I try to remain impartial towards any product worth reviewing. Makita always had a special place in my heart until they released the Makita 4329K 3.9 Amp Jigsaw. Sadly, it is one of those jigsaws that you would love to use, but deep down inside, there’s an evil voice telling you to look elsewhere.
The jigsaw is not good; Makita seemed to struggle a lot with this model. The question is why buy this power tool or review it in the first place? I am not pushing you to make a purchase. It is a low priced model, and there are tons of other Makita jigsaw out there with better benefits and build quality.
The Dewalt DCS331M1 model is one of the latest in line, which the devs had to offer in the DC series. It’s not the best jig saw out there; lord knows there are too many, but it works as advertised. You can make angled cuts, beautiful designer like curved cuts and many other style cuts if you are up for a bit of a challenge. This Dewalt jigsaw is laced with an array of the latest features which makes this cordless companion a woodworker’s favorite power tool to date.
Continue readingMiter saws have become a tool of preference for intermediate to professional level woodworkers. Amateurs and DIY enthusiasts normally don’t buy them because they’re a little skeptic of their own skill level. However, I have found miter saws to be more user centric and an easy-to-tame product if you have spent enough time with them. With the amount of features and a super convenient flow these products offer, you wouldn’t want to go back to using table saws or circular saws anymore. The mere possibility of sliding the blade head over the cut material is a lot more convenient than having to push the mats through the stationary blade. However, the only dilemma is not only buying the right miter saw, but making sure that it is coming from a trusted brand.
Continue readingRyobi decided to join the big boys’ league with the release of the all-new Ryobi 18-Volt ONE+ Cordless Miter Saw. Of course, there’s a twist – perhaps you already know about it because of the “cordless” wording. Yep, this is a lightweight Ryobi miter saw that doesn’t require any cords or power outlets to operate! Yayyy, that’s cool, right? Technically, it is a nice change to see a typical miter saw going cordless, but there are many limitations in this seemingly perfect equation.
Continue readingMiter saws have been around in the industry since the 70’s. If you haven’t used one, you should do it right away. Obviously, you’re going to have to look beyond the price tag because these puppers are a little expensive. However, one miter saw is far superior to a table saw over a great range of aspects. I tried my first miter saw back in late 70’s; everything was god damn manual, but it was worth it. The notion of using a miter saw in that time period was beyond scary. You were dealing with a cutting power tool; OSHA was not there, and so were the safety standards. Things were a little hard to get by, but they were worth it.
Continue readingHitachi is a trusted brand. Do you know how I know that? It’s because I have been using their product, yes, one product only, for the last 14 years or so. My mom bought an old Hitachi vacuum cleaner in the late 90s, and even though the new standards have improved via brushless motor design, upright structure and even a digital dashboard, this old vacuum cleaner refuses to give up. Talk about long-term product durability. Don’t believe me? Well, how about I update this post later with my personal beat down Hitachi vacuum cleaner pics. For now, let’s focus on reviewing the all new Hitachi C12RSH2 Miter Saw.
Continue readingOff the top of my head, I can only think of a select number of brands concerning miter saws. The reason being is the fact that they are mostly expensive, and it is not easy to switch over to an alternate power tool in case you end up with a low quality one. Speaking of reliability and convenience, I recently reviewed the Makita LS1016L 10-Inch Dual Slide miter saw. It is a compound category miter saw, which calls for ability to slide and tilt it in different directions. The company made a remarkable product – and given that there is a laser projection guide system, inaccurate cuts are no longer an issue.
